Bridal at the Country Club

A few months back I did a bridal shoot at the Country Club of Louisiana. What a great venue! There are plenty of places to get great shots any time of the day. The wedding is over now and I can post a few images. We did a few indoors then on the porch outside. I like using a remote flash that is powerful enough to overpower the sun but light enough to grab and go.

Dirty Diva Dirty Dude Race

Last Sunday was the Dirty Diva race and the weather could not have been any better. The Divas started at 1:00 then the children at 2:00 and the Dudes at 2:30. It was an obstacle course with a mud pit, a pile of hay bales and other obstacles in the way. I photographed the mud section and by the time the Duds came in it was good and muddy as you can see from the pics. Many thanks to a good friend Georgan for covering the hay obstacle and my wife Karen for capturing some great action shots.

Kayla and Jason

Last Sunday I was in New Orleans shooting Kayla and Jason’s engagement session. We originally planed to go down town but the weather forced us to change plans and do the shoot at the location of the wedding. The Benachi House & Gardens was an excellent place for the engagement session. We shot in the house during the rain and it cleared up enough to do location shots outside.
I used off camera flash with my Quantum T5D 90% of the time.

Brave Heart

Last week the Brave Heart organization held its annual Gala and I had the privilege of being the official photographer. The event was held at Chef John Folse’s White Oak Plantation, with plenty of great food a Silent Auction as well as the live auction. As you can see from the images posted we had plenty of entertainment as well.

Last week I had another beautiful album come through my studio. This one was an Art Leather “Futura” matted album with black leather and Silver text. It had all 10x10 prints of my collages and made a great presentation.

The Museum of Art at the Shaw Center recently had the grand opening of a pottery exhibit and I had the honor of being the official photographer!

One Beautiful Album

One beautiful 12x12 flush mount album and the 2 companion parent album just arrived, and I received notice that the other is on the way! This reminds me just why I love what I do. The 12x12 panorama prints are just …BAM!... and I love the smell of genuine hand crafted leather.
I know one bride will be happy!

Hurricane Gustov

It is amazing how many times you flip a switch and expect something to happen. I cannot tell you how many times this happened to me during Hurricane Gustov. I was fortunate enough to have power back after a week. Some went two or three times longer. I was also lucky enough to have just minor destruction to my home, others lost their homes and some lost family members. My heart goes out to all. Last Saturday I photographed Becky at a beautiful location. Many thanks to the owners of this home on the river built to mimic the old plantations. And thank you Becky for not calling the shoot off when there is 70% rain. This is Louisiana and the weather is so un-predictable. The only rain I saw was on the way back home after the shoot. With a beautiful bride, location and weather it was easy to come up with fantastic images. Tech stuff: Canon 5D, 24-70 2.8 & 70-200 F2.8 lens. I used my Quantum off camera, triggered remotely with PW.

Indian pre-wedding

had the opportunity to photograph an Indian pre-wedding ceremony for Rubin. Wow.. The colors, the tradition and the family members were great! I had a blast capturing all the events of the day. Tech stuff: I used a Canon 5D, 24-70 2.8 lens, flash bouncing off the ceiling, Iso 800 to let existing light in and a Quantum flash remotely fired with Pocket Wizards to light up the stage.

I recently photographed Anica and Shannon’s wedding. I had a fantastic time. They are a beautiful couple, the venue was at a fantastic place and the DJ rocked. It is no wonder that I came back with great images.
Tech Stuff: I used my Quantum Q5 with a turbo 2 battery pack on a light stand triggered by pocket wizard to create a natural look. I used the bracket mounted flash (550EX) on my Canon 5d as a fill.

One year old

Sorry I have not posted in a while. I will try to get in the habit and post at least once a week. My granddaughter just turned one year old. I had fun going through the images created last year and building a book of collages with Photo Shop. It is amazing how fast time passes by. Photography is the best way to hold on to those memories. Grab your camera and capture them today!

My photography will be published again!
Jaennie Baumeister the owner of Old Fashioned Baby (http://www.oldfashionedbaby.com/) is publishing a book on embroidering and hired me to create the images. I keep the lighting simple with the main lighting coming through an umbrella on camera left and a fill light bouncing off the ceiling. With the back cover we tried several arrangements till we found one that fit the bill. For the inside covers I took over 100 images of her work and Jeannie came up with a rough layout and I polished it off in Photoshop CS3.
